Hi Society!

Another welcome is in order: this is the first email I'm sending that is going out to people I believe are currently members of the Society, and not just a massive list of email addresses of people who are interested and who Hotmail gets a bit grumpy with. So, without further ado, welcome! Here is a list of what's in store for you in this fine email:

1. THE WEDDING SINGER
As you hopefully all know by now, our main show this year is The Wedding Singer, and you can find lots more info on it on the front page of the website, including the soundtrack and the dates of the show. A few important other things to be aware of though, and here they are:

a. REHEARSAL
The next rehearsal for The Wedding Singer is THIS THURSDAY 8th October at 7pm in the QMU, and this will be the last pre-audition rehearsal. If you haven't managed to get involved yet, now is your chance! If you wish to audition, come and see what it's all about and learn the stuff. If you don't want to audition and just want to sing and dance in the chorus, that's absolutely fine as well - just turn up on Thursday to learn some of the stuff that you will need, meet everyone and learn about the show.

b. AUDITIONS
Auditions are not compulsory, although we encourage everyone to try as you never know whether you're perfect for a role. Auditions will be held THIS WEEKEND, Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th October, from 10am-9pm each day in the QMU. If you wish to sign up for an audition (15-minute slot) then you can do so at rehearsals this Thursday. c. POSTER DESIGN
We can't have a show without an audience, and we need a poster to tell them it's on. If anyone feels they could design a poster for The Wedding Singer, then please give it a bash! Ideally it would be in .jpg or .pdf format and would be emailed to me by 12noon on Thursday 15th October. Don't worry about all the details for now; we're really just looking for an overall design idea and can slot the correct details in later. If you would like to see an idea (totally unconfirmed and open to adaptation) of what text should be on the poster then simply click here, and if you would like to see a previous poster, just email!

2. VIDEO NIGHT
For those who were in the Weekend Show and wish to relive that glorious weekend, or for those who couldn't be there but yearn to see the performance, we will be viewing the Society's archive copy of Bugsy Malone TONIGHT, Wednesday 7th October, at 8pm in the TV Room on the Third Floor of the QMU. For more details, see the Facebook group. Bring popcorn! See you there.

3. PUB CRAWL
And last but most certainly not least, the Cecilian social season well and truly launches itself upon us with the madness that is the famed Cecilian Pub Crawl. That's right folks, keep the evening of Friday 16th October free for Cecilian fun! Yasmin will be taking names of who would like to attend so that she can put you into teams at THIS THURSDAY's rehearsal. If you're not going to be there for whatever reason, but want to take part, just drop Yasmin an email via social@ceciliansociety.co.uk or a wee phone/text on 07973318716 and she'll make sure you've got a team to call yours.

Wow. There's a lot of info up there. Stare at it for a little while. Quite difficult to comprehend? Never fear, I shall now summarise in words of few syllables: We're doing The Wedding Singer. Come join us - audition if you want! You could design a poster too. If you want to be social, come to the video night. And the pub crawl. They'll all be amazing.
