Totally forgot to post this when I sent it, sorry guys. If anyone else would like to stand for any production team positions for the revue, you have just under two hours to let me know! (Although I may not be incredibly strict about this deadline...) Anyhow, here is the content of my last email:

Hi Society!

See what I did there? Anyway, I'm not sure how accurately 'gossip' describes the content of this email, but if you read it all you can decide for yourself! We have:

1. Third Show Nominations
2. Tech Opportunities
3. Poster Day!
4. Upcoming Social Events
5. General Cast News
6. Message from Sarah Daly

1. Third Show Nominations

As many of you may know by now, after Carmen we are planning to perform a revue-style show in the last few weeks of the second term (hopefully sometime between 11th-23rd March). To this end, we are looking for people to fill positions on the production team.

We require one Production Manager, four Musical Directors, four Choreographers, and one Technical Manager. If you are interested in standing for any of these positions then please reply to this email, or phone/text me on 07791073352, before 7pm THIS WEDNESDAY 26th November.

Equally, if you wish any more information on the structure of the show or the 'job descriptions' for each position, then feel free to contact me as well - in fact this is highly encouraged. If you wish an interview, we will be holding these this Thursday 27th and Sunday 30th November, or exceptionally Thursday 4th December. Please let me know if you cannot make any of these dates or if one is preferable.

2. Tech Opportunities

We are also looking for one or two people to operate the sound board during Carmen - the Musical. They would be required during the entirety of show week (26th - 31st January 2009) and also obviously for some planning and preparation beforehand. If anyone has the appropriate skills, or knows anyone who does, please contact me ASAP either by emailing secretary@ceciliansociety.co.uk or phoning/texting 07791073352.

Also, from above, there is an opportunity for a Technical Manager position in the revue-style show in March. This would be a relatively small-scale role due to the nature of the event, so if you would like to stand just contact me as per above.

3. Poster Day!

The most wonderful publicity event of the century is almost here, and to make it even better, this year we will be having two! Every year, poster day involves the entire cast of the show walking around the West End in teams giving posters to shops to display, hopefully helping us sell tickets, and collecting other interesting posters on the way.

This is of crucial importance to the publicity of the show, and due to our unusual timing this year we will be holding one before Christmas and one after. The one before will be THIS SATURDAY 29th November, and we will be meeting outside the QM at 11am. Be there or be square - I will be offering personal prizes for the best place that we manage to get a poster up, and for the best poster (legally!) collected in the process! See you and lots of sweets there!

P.S. Teams are now on the forum - see under Banter!

4. Upcoming Social Events

On Tuesday 2nd December, we are holding our annual St. Andrew's Day Ceilidh in the GUU Debates Chamber. Join the event on Facebook! Tickets are £6; if you wish to purchase one speak to Social Convenor Colin Bryce, either at rehearsals or on social@ceciliansociety.co.uk. The event is open to all, so bring your friends, your flatmates, your granny, her cats, and anyone else who likes some good ceilidh dancing! Dress code is a relaxed smart-casual.

At the ceilidh it is traditional to also hold the annual fundraising auction. If you have anything that you would like to auction (objects, oddities, services, yourself) then speak to Yasmin at rehearsals or on fundraising@ceciliansociety.co.uk, and also if you know anywhere that would donate something for the raffle, then tell Yasmin that too!

Also, Thursday 18th December will see the Cecilian vs. STaG Karaoke in Curlers! More details are to follow, including how to sign up, but for now get your thinking caps on as to what you could possibly perform!

5. General Cast News

Carmen is fast approaching and if we want to have an audience to perform to we need YOU to sell as many tickets as humanly possible! Your ticket manager Lorna can be contacted on tickets@ceciliansociety.co.uk, and will also be at rehearsals every week. She has already detailed the fabulous prizes available for high ticket sellers, so tell everyone you know, and invite all of your friends on Facebook to the Carmen event! If you have no friends, never fear! You can buy charity tickets for £7 each, which are then distributed as a gift to various worthy organisations, helping the society and other good causes at the same time.

Apologies if you cannot make rehearsals are absoultely crucial, as we have only six rehearsals left before Christmas, and only two weeks until show week when we come back after! If the production team know you won't be there, it allows them to plan things accordingly - although of course not needing to send apologies is much better! Apologies for full cast rehearsals should go to Laura Bauld, for specialist dance rehearsals to Amy Fieldhouse, and for principal rehearsals to Sarah Daly. The numbers you need are on the forum!

And lastly, if we want to have those other little niceties like lighting, sound and a set on the stage, we ask for a contribution from the cast towards the finances of the show. This year it has been set at a minimum donation of £6, and should be given to Laura Bauld before the end of term.

6. Message from Sarah Daly

Lastly, Sarah Daly has asked me to forward this request on to you all:

Hello all,
I was hoping to get your support for a petition that has been launched online. On the 28th of October this year, two young girls wereknocked down on Tollcross road in the east end of Glasgow. A friend of mine who is close to one of the girls has asked me to forward this on to as many people as possible, to gather support to push Glasgow City Council to place a crossing on the road.

The petition can be found at:
http://www.gopetition.co.uk/online/23332.html
If as many people could sign this as possible, it'd be fantastic. It will take 60 seconds for you to fill in the information, and could prevent this happening again.

The evening times are also supporting this cause, and the full story can be found at the below:
http://eveningtimes.co.uk/news/display. ... 84.0.0.php

Thanks guys, your help is appreciated,
Sarah

So that's it! Another email done and plenty of things to do! If you know anyone interested in sound, contact me, and if you want to stand for any positions on the revue production team, contact me before 7pm Wednesday! Come to poster day, come to the ceilidh, auction yourself at the ceilidh, sell tickets, and sign a petition. No excuses to be bored this week! And if you want any more gossip, I'll be happy to provide.

See you soon!

Ben
