stv are looking for some enthusiastic bodies to recreate a 1940s swing dance on Monday 18 August. A new series called DNA Stories will be illustrating the story of when a young American GI first met his British sweetheart at a swing dance in the mid 1940s.
They have hired a church hall in the West End of Glasgow (Kelvin Stevenson Memorial Church, Belmont, Glasgow, G20 6JR) and will be filming there from 3pm until around 9.30pm. Anyone who knows a couple of basic swing steps would be very much appreciated to vollunteer as an extra. Period clothing of the 1940s is obviously required, though some extra outfits may be avaiable from other extras. For women, tea dresses (but not the polka type dresses from the 1950s) are required. Smart shirts and ties are required for men (though clearly not any obviously modern brands).
There is a live band, the Jive Aces, who will be performing for people to dance to. The aim is to show the viewers the authentic sights and sounds from that era. The place needs to look like a busy, swing jive event.
If you are free on Monday and fancy a cameo on-screen, please call Jo Curtis on 0141 300 3834 or email
