EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT WEDDING SINGER AUDITIONS

 Auditions will take place on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th October between 10.00am and 9.00pm

 Auditions are for principal parts only. If you only want to be in the chorus you do not need to audition. However, we would encourage everyone to audition as you may be exactly what we’re looking for and it will increase you chance of getting a smaller acting or singing part.

 We will be taking photographs at auditions so that we can remember who everyone is

 Everyone will be allocated a 15 minute audition slot during which you must act sing and dance.

 Boys must perform audition piece 5 and either audition piece 1 or 4. Girls must perform two dialogues from the choice of audition pieces 1, 2 and 3. Try to play two different parts so we can get an idea of your diversity.

 Everyone must perform one song out of the two that you are taught. Singing warm-ups will be provided if required.

 Everyone must also perform the dance to “It’s Your Wedding Day”. Amy will be able to give you a quick refresher during your audition if you need a final practice

 You may use your music and written acting pieces in your audition; however, we would like you to not be too reliant on them as we want to see how you act, not how you can read. Use them as a memory aid rather than reading straight from them.

 You should use an accent in your audition. The show is set in New Jersey, USA so we would like to hear as close to a Jersey accent as you can manage.

 Prepare for your auditions. Read the synopsis and character sheets and practice your singing. We want to see you performing to the best of your ability and the more you are prepared, the more confidently you will be able to audition.

 There will be call-backs on Monday 12rd October for. We will phone people who have call backs on Sunday night at about 10.00pm.

 Parts will be announced at rehearsal on Thursday 15th October.

 If you have any problems with your audition time (e.g.. you are going to be late or not make it at all) or any further questions about the audition process please phone or text Lorna on 07884180924.

 Finally, enjoy yourself. We’re not at all scary, honest!

See you Thursday, Lorna

One more thing that you may like to know about auditions is that most of the material that Lorna has posted can also be found in a handy downloadable format at http://www.ceciliansociety.co.uk/download/WedSinAuds.zip. If this isn't working for you let me know and I'll send you a link in a different format.

The only thing that is not in this audition 'pack', as it were, is sheet music. Just for the record, as it doesn't actually say this above:

Boys must perform what you have been taught of either Single or Grow Old With You
and
Girls must perform what you have been taught of either Someday or Saturday Night in the City.

If you don't have a copy of any of the music yet, then please ask for one at the rehearsal this coming Thursday 8th October (7pm, QMU) or perhaps get together with a friend and learn it as a team! This is an especially good idea if you know that one of you is doing one song and the other, the other. Unfortunately we don't have digital copies/scans of the music so we can't post it on here, but if you're really struggling to find a copy/can't make Thursday etc, please email or reply here and we'll see what we can do.

Thanks guys!

Ben
