Hello. Haven't had time to do proper Toreador walkthrough this week but here is a rather elementary one that I just threw together just in case anyone desperately wanted to know something before tonight. I shall folow it with a more clear one with bar numbers etc.

TOREADOR WALKTHROUGH

Starting positions
Table stage R-Aloof girls
Middle table-Giggly girls
Table stage L-Guys and Girls (includes any non-dancer boys) and Boy dancers at start

Music begins-First group enters then Esc. Group enters
Esc. Sings to guys
Zuniga and Esc. Drink after word ‘delight’
‘See now the glorious circle filling-Esc. Walking round-people crowd round him.
‘Hark how they’re shouting, cries loud and thrilling’-8 bangs on table or floor
Giggly girls A move from middle table to front stager (including girl with hat, you’re all pretty excited about the hat)
Frenzy seizes them’ to ‘till the combat starts’(roughly)-Esc. Singing to guys
‘Then the moment comes for strength and daring, ‘tis the hour for men of heart’-Esc. Takes Carmen’s shawl
‘Come on, take care, come on, take care, ah’-dancer guys plus Zuniga and Morales take girls shawls and line up behind Esc.
‘Toreador, on guard now’-Boy dancers move diagonally R and forwards with 8 small steps
‘Toreador, Toredor’-Dancers and M and Z get in positions for 1st dance section
-Esc. Joins giggly girls A.

1st DANCER SECTION (begins ‘mind well’)
-At same time-hat girl gives Esc. his hat back, he kisses her hand and spins her into dance on the line ‘And true love waits for thee’

Dancers finish section and chorus start singing ‘Toreador, on guard now…’
-dancers form group front st L
-Esc. walks to Carmen and gives back the shawl, then walks back to middle

‘Mind well that when in danger thou shall be, fond eyes gaze and adore’- groups at st L and st R tables (aka-aloof girls and guys and girls) swap tables, exuberantly, moving IN FRONT of the middle table.
‘And true love waits for thee, toreador, and true love waits for thee’-Giggly girls and dancers form group around Esc. in centre
‘Suddenly, the crowd is silent’ till ‘no longer shout or cry’-RLRL forward and back 5 times
‘Bounding in th’arena’-dancers prepare for 2nd dancer section
2ND DANCER SECTION (begins on ‘rushing round’)
Dancers finish dancing-group in middle parts and moves to sides
Esc. walks among the crowd some more until ‘Come on, take care, come on, take take’

FINAL SECTION
Esc. sings Toreador, on guard now, toreador, toreador-Everyone spreads out filling stage (in front of tables)
Stand on ‘And rue love waits for thee, toreador, and true love waits for thee’
‘Mind well’-Start stamping RLLR (8 times, moving into V)

Chorus sings ‘Toreador, on guard now’-3 lots of RLLR stamps
Wait for two beats then do step from audition to R on ‘toreador’ and L on second ‘toreador’
‘Mind well that when in danger thou shall be’
-Group 1-Bring R hand up and into a fist
-Group 2-Bring Right arm up to the side
-Group 3-Bring left arm down to the side
‘Fond eyes gaze and adore’
-1-Same but bring arm down forwards instead of fist
-2-Bring R arm down
-3-Bring L arm up
-Girl dancers-Step with shawl outwards
Crowd disperses back to places
Esc. goes over to Carmen and then moves back to middle
On ‘Toreador…etc.’ girls from R and L tables crowd round him.
