ROBBIE HART

A hopeless romantic, Robbie Hart is New Jersey’s favourite wedding singer, the best in the business. Sadly, all that changes at his own wedding when he gets dumped at the alter. It’s only when he finds a special connection with Julia that his belief in love is reinforced.

JULIA SULLIVAN

VOCAL RANGE: G (below middle C) – E (top of stave)

Julia is a sweet, naïve waitress who works at the reception centre where Robbie’s wedding band plays. She desperately hopes that one day her boyfriend, Glen, will “pop the question”. The real question is: is he really right for her, or is there someone else close at hand that she really should be with.

SAMMY

VOCAL RANGE: D (above middle C ) – F sharp (top of stave)

Sammy plays bass in the wedding band and is Robbie’s best friend. He’s not terribly bright, but is very supportive and is well-meaning in everything that he does. He is still in love with Holly after they broke up six months ago. He is constantly trying to be cool and he loves the fashions of 1985.

GEORGE

VOCAL RANGE: Middle C – G (top of stave)

Flamboyant and eccentric, George is Robbie’s other best friend and has many roles in the band. Based on Boy George, he is an adorable and funny character.

HOLLY

VOCAL RANGE: A (below middle C) – E (top of stave)

Holly is Julia’s cousin and works with her as a waitress at the reception centre. She is a free and uninhibited twenty something who sets her sights on any available man.


GLEN GUGLIA (with a silent G)

VOCAL RANGE: D (above middle C) – B flat (above stave)

Glen is engaged to Julia, but marriage is the least of his concerns. For Glen, life is all about making money and he doesn’t care how he gets it or what he has to sacrifice. He’s the Wall Street type; clean cut, suave, sophisticated and a little pretentious.

ROSIE

VOCAL RANGE: Middle C – C (top of stave)

Robbie’s hip and cool grandma. Robbie lives in her basement. She has a surprising love for hip-hop and break-dancing. A brilliant comic part.

LINDA

VOCAL RANGE: A (below middle C) – D (top of stave)

Robbie’s trashy, oversexed fiancé who leaves him at the alter as she loves the old Robbie who was in a rock band, not the Robbie that plays in a wedding band. She is the ultimate rock chick.

ANGIE
VOCAL RANGE: A( below middle C) - B flat (above middle C)

Julia’s mum and Holly’s aunt. Often seems more concerned about Julia marrying someone rich and successful then her daughter’s happiness.
